Simple sewing projects are always a hit during the school holidays. They are fantastic boredom busters and are also suitable for beginners. I believe that it is a skill that one must learn because it’s a wonderful creative outlet, but also practical for mending clothes.
I learned how to use a pedal power Singer sewing machine when I was around 8 years old in my desperation to have a collection of clothes for my Barbie dolls. It kept me occupied during the long summers when I was growing up. I remember having so much fun doing so.
So, here’s the line-up of sewing projects I prepared for the school holidays. Please note that school holiday classes are by special request only. Make it a parent and child creative time and have a lovely time together. The recommended minimum age to attend is 10 years old because we will be using a sewing machine.
- Lavender Satchets– make a house, owl and a heart sachet for hanging inside the closet or as a door handle decor.
2. Bracelet and Brooch – Learn how to make round flowers and attach a photo frame to a piece of elastic to make a photo bracelet. We’re also making a brooch using fabric and tulle. They are perfect for gift-giving too.
3. Superhero Masks -Make 1 sleeping mask and 1 superhero mask of your choice. Embellish with gemstones or flowers too if you wish. This is so much fun and always a popular choice because they can be worn to school dress-up days.
If you and your child are interested in attending, please let me know so we can organise a suitable date and time. Please indicate which one you’d like to make so that I can organise the materials needed.
